10-year-old Ben has a dog-walking job every day for our older neighbor, Marj. Bella just leads him around the neighborhood and he does a great job with her.
He wants a dog, but we tell him we just don't have the room and we don't want to clean up after it. Apparently Bella never poops on walks so he thinks dogs are easy.
Ben is very good with kids, and will jump to help with our younger kids. He also seems to be like a pied piper. Here is cousin Havala chasing him down and jumping on him when they came last month.
I'm told he also includes friends' younger siblings when they ask -- they feel a part of the action when he is over.
And he loves to play with friends. He has a few in the streets around us, but some live across a busy street several blocks away, so sometimes his social life takes some juggling and chauffeuring from us.
So far basketball camp and such is also keeping him busy this summer, and watching Minecraft videos on YouTube when he is allowed (because we don't have video games).
