Snowbird

We spent an afternoon/evening up at Snowbird Mountain Resort doing all their summer activities for the first time and we all had a lot of fun. 

The first thing we did was the mountain coaster, before dinner and before the line got long. 

I enjoyed this a lot. You wind through beautiful trees and flowers and hills, and you control the speed of your cart.

We then did the alpine slide. We had to ride the ski lift up, and just when I feel like I am doing better with my fear of heights, I'm sitting by my darling daughter with no bar in front of us high in the air and I cannot stop my brain from thinking she could fall.

The way down was fun. You steer and control your speed. Here's Andrew nearing the end.

One of the favorites was the bungee trampoline. The boys got a lot of air and did flips.

This girlie did flip after flip and after flip. She just rolled around in the air in her harness.

We rode the tram to the very tip top of the mountain. The tram had windows on the floor to look down.

JB took this family selfie, and while we were squinting against the sun, I am thrilled with what the wind did with my hair. Model-look!

When we got back down, the kids a lot of the activities again, like the rock climbing wall. 

It was my company summer family party. Church News publishes with Deseret News, which, like KSL (my old employer), is part of Deseret Management Company. So I met some new coworkers from Deseret News, and saw many of the Church News staff there and got to introduce JB and the kids to them and meet their families. I hope they do it again next year!

Glacier National Park

JB went on a dream hiking trip to Glacier National Park last week with his cousins Ryan and Greg, and their boys Colton, Kenny and Chase.

They did three main big hikes — Grinnell Glacier, Highline Trail, and Iceberg Lake. They saw mountain goats, bears (including a momma bear with her two cubs), deer, bighorn sheep and lots of beauty.

This is Iceberg Lake. They got up early in the morning to do this hike, and they all took the polar plunge into the lake at the end! Ice is floating in the water, brrrrr.

They also took a smaller hike to Hidden Lake.

Bear Lake camping

We drove up to Bear Lake last Monday and camped overnight on the east shore, in the Boy Scouts' Bear Lake Aquatics Base (BLAB). 

But before we set up the tent, we got food at Zips and shakes at LaBeau's.

We pretty much had that whole beach to ourselves to skip rocks and make sand castles and swim. The shallow water went out a long way. 

A girls camp group came out at one point from one of the nearby homes, and one of the girls yelled to Max, "My friend thinks you are hot!"

Our campsite had a spot for hammocks and a picnic table, where JB set up the camera and we took these pictures.

The night was windy and rainy. No one slept that well, with the tent shaking. Quite the adventure!  In the morning, some rock skipping, then we took down the tent and went home.
