Who never ever starts an argument

The other day a co-worker said "Apple Core" and I responded, "Who's your friend?" When he said back, "He is!" We realized we both grew up watching the same Donald Duck and Chip and Dale cartoons. I'm talking the cartoons from the 1940s. Then another co-worker started singing the song: "Who has the sweetest disposition? One guess that's who. Who never ever starts an argument..." and it ends with "No one, but Donald Duck!"

A quick check of YouTube showed all of these amazing cartoons. I emailed a few links to my sister and next thing you know, I'm reliving my childhood. We had them all on VHS, and the tape was so worn that I only remember some parts of the cartoons with scratches or blips in the audio so it was weird to see them in good quality on YouTube. Anyway, anybody else remember these? Fun times.

Michael Jackson

I broke the news to the Young Women in my church last night when I went up to visit them at their week-long camp. Half were shocked, the other half said, "Well he was pretty creepy."

My YW President though said, "He's dead??" And I said, "Yup. So's Farah Fawcett." "WHAT??," she goes. "Don't come up here to the mountains and tell me bad news!"

Every where I turn I hear his music this morning. "Thriller" is being played the most, but I have "PYT" in my head right now. Sometimes I hum the Jackson 5's "ABC."

So rather than wax poetic about Michael Jackson, the icon, the influence, the INCIDENTS...I think we should play, "What Michael Jackson song is in your head today?"

A chair of bowlies

While on a nice walk around the neighborhood yesterday (pulling Ben in the wagon with one hand and Max's bike handles with the other (he's still scared of corners)), I passed someone I know taking cherries off their tree.

He offered some, I accepted one. "Yum yum," I said, and was about to continue on my way, when he said, "Take more!" I had no way to carry them home so I declined.

Last night, as I'm heading to bed, JB answered a knock on the door. There was the cherry picker, holding several BRANCHES of his cherry tree.

"I got tired of picking them," he said, "So I cut down the branches."

And that's all I have to say about that.

Rain, rain, go away

I actually like the rain. It makes me want to curl up with a quilt and a book or movie. Of course it's hard for my boys, because they can't play outside. But the more it rains, the more the hottttt weather of summer is kept at bay.

Last night's storm pushed our BBQ inside, and did this to our back deck:

Looks like JB has some work to do! I'd volunteer, but he's much stronger than I. And taller. And I don't think he wants me trying to hammer anything up back there.


That's just one reason why he's amazing. Another reason is his mad cooking ability. And how he's a sweet and fun dad he is to our two (tall) munchkins. Happy Father's Day to JB, my dad, and my father-in-law!

An invitation

Remember the part on Sense and Sensibility where Col Brandon says, "I come to issue you an invitation!" and he says "issue" funny? Well that's been in my head lately because of these:

They are spice bottles with an invitation as the label! Such a cute idea. Totally not mine. It was JoLynn's. She made the labels too.

JB and I are having our second annual BBQ this Saturday for the families that we Home Teach and Visit Teach at church. He's smoking pork and ribs, hence the cute piggy there.

Two things

First, my little nephew Jacob is now past five pounds! Look how sweet...


Second, my not-so-little but still sweet husband JB is now a member of our Stake High Council. It seems he will be away some Sundays on speaking assignments but it shouldn't be too bad. He is after all Benny's favorite person to take him out squirming and yelling into the hallway during church.

I want that

I am filling-in at work this Saturday morning, doing the newscasts -- but occasionally my eyes scan up to the four TV screens in front of my face here in the newsroom, and I can't help but make out my wish-list for things I see on the paid programming.

First, a Bumpit.

I am THIS CLOSE to picking up the phone. Maybe my hair is too flat. Maybe I do need massive volume in an instant!

Second, new abs.

I have several options. There's "Slim in 6," which will send me a tape measure with my payments for me to watch the inches melt away in six weeks. Or there's "Core Rhythms," which will show me dance secrets from four world champion dancers to melt two inches off my waist in two weeks. I'm impatient, so I may go for this one. It seems faster.

Third, the Awesome Auger

Anything Billy Mays talks about, I want to buy. He's so enthusiastic, so persuasive. Oxyclean, sandwich maker, even this awesome auger. I don't even know exactly what it does but it looks AWESOME. I think I know what I'm getting JB for Father's Day.

Fourth, the RediSetGo.

While typing up the post, pausing to work and other news business, this infomercial came on. This one I am seriously considering. It makes cake, pizza, chicken, mini-sweet buns and more in just 7 minutes! Now I really know JB's Father's Day gift.
